Description Woman's peep-toe heels with back ankle-strap. Dyed blue/gray with gold-tone buckles on ankle straps; brushed satin uppers and leather soles. Shoe upper has lapped-over effect creating the appearance of crossed sections at the toe. Salmon-pink lining. Labels: on right shoe: instep "Avonettes"; inside back anke strap "6 1/2 A 14108"; 8922W; on left shoe: instep "Saks Fifth Avenue - Debutante Fashions"; inside back ankle strap "6 1/2 A 14108"; 8922W.
Provenance Shoes worn at donor's wedding to Iowa native Haakon Herigstad at Niagara Falls, New York in 1954. Shoes were dyed to match dress and hat - 2013.22.3a-b.
