Object Name Scarf
Date circa 1917
Description Black net scarf; entire piece framed in black sequins (one row) with one row of black seed beads on either side. Each end has floral and geometric motifs out of black sequins and blue, green, and red-pink beads (beads fill in flower or circle motifs). Groupings of 5-6 black seed beads are placed in off-set lines leading towards center of scarf (12 rows)

Provenance Made in France. Purchased by John James "JJ" Swaner, a marine, during WWI, as a gift to his mother Mary Swaner (an Iowa City resident).
