Date circa 1905
Description [Man's?] long coat, green silk, lined with a multicolor floral print cotton. Mostly hand made. Dark red edging at neck, center front and hem. Dark red gussets. Sleeve hems embellished with red silk embroidered in black, white and yellow. Sides of coat embellished with orange tufts, which may be made of hemp. Slits at both side seam hems. Lining is a red, orange, pink and green floral print; probably made in a Russian factory. Interior front facing of coat is purple/blue silk with yellow and brown horizontal stripes.
Provenance Central Asia, possibly Turkmenistan or Uzbekistan.
Purchased in northern Lebanon in early 2000s; said to be "100 years old" at time of purchase.
